Atius Tirawa, the Creator, made the Morning Star of the East and the Evening Star of the West. These two made love and created the ancestors of the Chahiksichahiks, or Pawnee Nation. Its four bands — the Skidi, Chaui, Kitkehahki, and Pitahawirata — originally inhabited land surrounding the Platte River.
